Greetings Colleagues,

This last week was spent working on integrated planning. One of the things that has been lacking at Cuesta is a clear understanding of integrated planning and what it looks like and how it operates. Eva Conrad, our consultant really helped us identify and clarify what integrated planning is for Cuesta College in addition to what we need to do to integrate our 2011-2016 Educational Master Plan, 2010-2013 Strategic Plan, and Facilities Master Plan Update and Fiscal Plan. Eva spent her time educating many different groups and individuals and we began drafting what will become the San Luis Obispo County Community College District's Integrated Planning Manual. This integrated planning manual will be an integral part in demonstrating our planning processes, the components of these processes, timeline for the processes, and an explanation on how these processes are continually assessed and improved. This manual is continuing to be refined by the Accreditation Steering Committee and other committees as outlined on the attached timeline. This timeline also shows the dates committees will be reviewing the San Luis Obispo County Community College District's Integrated Planning Manual as well as other plans that we will be completing by the end of this Spring semester.

You are welcome to attend any College Council or Planning & Budget meetings who are reviewing the documents or the Accreditation Steering Committee meetings to find out more. In particular, your attendance at one or both of the two workshops listed below is important. Please try and attend one or both workshops if your schedule permits.

Education Master Plan Addendum - Challenges and Institutional Goals Workshop
March 12, 2012 1:00-5:00 PM. 5401/N1013
At this workshop we will evaluate our data both internally and externally, and identify our challenges and from these our institutional goals will be identified.

The 2010-2013 Strategic Plan Revision Workshop
March 21, 2012 1:00-5:00 PM. 5401/N1013
At this workshop we will revise the 2010-2013 Strategic Plan based on our identified institutional goals from the workshop above.

To keep you up to date currently, our task list includes;

  • An addendum to the Educational Master Plan
  • Revising the Current Strategic Plan
  • Developing a template for the Strategic Plan Progress Report
  • Complete the Operational Plans
  • Complete the Integrated Planning manual

The Task List with each activity under the project will be found on the Accreditation Website later this week.

Lastly, please help us in relaying the message to students, family, friends, neighbors, etc. that Cuesta College remains accredited, classes will transfer, degrees and certificates can be completed, financial aid is not going away and the college is not going to close. You can also help in getting the word out about summer school.

Thank you for your commitment and dedication to Cuesta College,

Deb and Kevin
