High school seniors who participate in a Cash for College workshop at Cuesta College will be considered for a bonus $1,000 scholarship. The event is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Cuesta’s San Luis Obispo campus in the upstairs open lab of the High Tech Center, Building 3400.

Students will receive help with FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and Cal Grant forms. To qualify for a Cal Grant, students must submit the FAFSA and GPA verification form no later than March 2. Those with a 2.0 GPA and above are eligible for up to $12,192 annually.

Students will need to bring several documents to complete their FAFSA. A list of the documents can be found at academic.cuesta.edu/finaid. Click on Cash for College. Those who cannot attend the event can obtain information online: www.fafsa.ed.gov, www.csac.ca.gov and academic.cuesta.edu/finaid.

The workshop will also be the place for students to learn more about the PG&E Bright Minds Scholarship Program. The reward for sharing their stories could be college scholarships, some worth as much as $30,000.

  • Live within the PG&E service area
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire 2012-2013 academic year
