For the second time, Cuesta College will host the California Medical Assistant Association’s (CMAA) Conference on its San Luis Obispo campus. The annual fall conference will be held September 13th – 15th and is intended to provide professional development and “real-life, hands-on” experiences to medical assistant students and professionals.

“This is Cuesta’s way of giving back to the community by bringing a conference to our area that is generally out of reach because it is usually held in larger cities,” said Lisa Wearda, associate director of Cuesta College’s Nursing and Allied Health Department. “Our community and students are able to easily participate in this great opportunity to continue their education.”

The CMAA was formed in 1954 and is a leading professional organization for medical assistants in California. The fall conference is expected to draw approximately 100 people, at least 20 of which will be Cuesta College students. The last time it was held on the San Luis Obispo campus was in 2008.

The registration deadline is September 5th. For more information please call the CMAA headquarters at 1-888-464-2622.
