The Cuesta College Wellness Arts class of spring 2013 is holding a student art show and will open with a reception on Thursday, May 16, from 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., on the San Luis Obispo campus in the DSPS lobby, room 3300. The art work of 23 students will be up for the summer and fall 2013 semester and will include paintings, drawings, collages, masks and mixed media.

Wellness Arts is a 2-unit academic support course that teaches the fundamentals of student wellness in college, as well as therapeutic art projects to help manage challenges such as stress, sadness, social phobia and intrusive thoughts. The program holds an art show at the end of each semester.

“The hope for the Wellness Arts Student Art Show is for the campus and community to gain awareness of this innovative course and support the wonderful work of the students involved,” said Wellness Program Coordinator Kelsey Kehoe. “We hope the students will in turn take ownership of their art and the therapeutic process involved, take pride in their creations and feel supported by one another and the campus-at-large.”

The public is invited to attend the opening; light refreshments will be served. For more information, please contact Kelsey Kehoe at (805) 546-3100 at extension 2213.
