For the third year in a row, Cuesta College will host Wine Down Wednesday, a fundraiser for the college’s Book of the Year Program. The 2014 book is “Orange is the New Black; My Year in a Women’s Prison” by author Piper Kerman. The benefit will take place at the Sauer-Adams Adobe, located at 964 Chorro Street in San Luis Obispo, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on September 25th.

Events that begin in February of 2014 include film showings, lectures and a lecture by Kerman herself on April 3rd, 2014. Attendees of Wine Down Wednesday can enjoy a glass of wine, silent auction and live music.

In “Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison,” Kerman recounts getting mixed up in drug trafficking only to get caught and sentenced to time in jail a decade later. “’Orange is the New Black’ is perfect for the program since it is a fascinating and readable book with so many timely and relevant topics,” said Carina Love, Book of the Year Committee co-chair.

The Book of the Year Program is a project of the Academic Senate of Cuesta College and is organized by the Cuesta College Book of the Year Committee.
