The Cuesta College Art Gallery is gearing up to host an exhibit featuring 26 paintings by Richard Phipps, who currently lives in Los Osos and teaches art part-time at Cuesta College. The exhibit will run from January 24th through February 21st with an opening reception on January 24th from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. An artist talk is scheduled for January 29th at noon in the Gallery.

This will be the first time Phipps, who spent most of his life practicing art in Southern California, has featured his works in an exhibit on the Central Coast. Phipps describes his paintings as “open text.”

“I want people to come look at my paintings and interpret them any way they want and do with them as they will,” said Phipps. “My paintings have no message, but I can guarantee they will be something you have never seen before.”

The Cuesta College Art Gallery is open 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. It is located on the San Luis Obispo Campus in room 7170.
