In a show of gratitude for Cuesta College’s support of the employee recruitments for the new Smart & Final store located in Paso Robles, the store recently presented the college’s Foundation a check in the amount of $2,500. The funds are earmarked for the Cuesta College Estrella Career Center, located on the North County campus, which offers employment search services to the public.

Back in March, the center held its first major job recruitment which resulted in 51 applicants successfully completing the Smart & Final hiring process. The hires started in their new positions on June 12, the store’s official opening. Those hired are Cuesta College students, community members and local high school students and they fill a variety of positions including department leads, customer service, stocking and cashiering.

“The Cuesta College Estrella Career Center is pleased to play such an integral role the recruitment for the new Smart and Final store,” said Workforce Economic Development Community Programs CalWORKS Coordinator Karen Reyes. “The donation received is appreciated and will assist in our continued effort to support students and community members in their job seeking efforts.”

The Estrella Career Center opened in July 2012 and offers services to both local employers and job seekers. Employment search services are available Monday through Thursday, 9:00a.m. - 4:00p.m. Included in the services are a wide variety of workshops to assist job seekers in resume preparation and soft-skills development.
