Cuesta College is set to host workshops for undocumented Latino students.

On April 18 and 19, 2013, the Latina Leadership Network of Cuesta College will host an information session for Latino and Latina students at both the San Luis Obispo and North County campuses.

Dr. Richard Cortes, an academic & transfer counselor at Glendale Community College, will speak about the experiences of undocumented Latino community college students and include information about legislation such as AB540, AB130, AB131, deferred action, and the Dream Act. Cuesta College Financial Aid Coordinator Raul Aldama will provide information on resources available to students at Cuesta.

“This is a great opportunity to get some in-depth information about the resources available to this group of students,” said Gabriela Lopez, Cuesta College student support site specialist. “The training will also demonstrate how community colleges can better serve these students.”

The workshop will be held Thursday, April 18, from 5-7 p.m. at the North County campus in Room N3102 and on Friday, April 19, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the San Luis Obispo campus in Room 6304.

This event is open to the public and co-sponsored by the Associated Students of Cuesta College. Free parking will be provided on the North County campus in lots 10 and 11 and on the San Luis Obispo campus in lots 2 and 3.
