Cuesta College is seeking runners to participate in its 2nd Annual 5K Run on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the San Luis Obispo Campus’s track.

“This fun event is a fundraiser for our recreation and kinesiology departments, and is a community celebration of health and fitness for all ages,” said Jani Johnson, Cuesta College’s division chair of kinesiology, health sciences and athletics.

The 5K is open to runners 10 and older and begins at 8:30 a.m. A pre-registration fee of $30 for the general public, $25 for students, or the on-site registration fee of $40 for all, includes a commemorative water bottle. The top male and female runners will receive a prize and all participants will be entered in a drawing to win additional prizes.

For the younger runners, a Cougar Kids Fun Run will begin at 9:30 a.m. For a pre-registration fee of $5, or the onsite registration fee of $10, 2 to 4-year-olds can run one lap, 5 to 6-year-olds can run two laps, and 7 to 9-year olds can run three laps.

Pre-register by May 7 at www.active.com, or from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. on race day.

The planning, organization and implementation of the race is a collaboration of the college’s kinesiology, recreation, and nutrition departments, with assistance from the Cuesta College Employee Wellness Committee.
