Cuesta College is hosting its first college transfer fair specifically geared toward registered nurses seeking a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). On Thursday, March 27, from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Cuesta College will host the ADN to BSN College Transfer Fair. The event is for current registered nursing students (RN) in an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program and RNs in the community and surrounding areas including San Luis Obispo County, North Santa Barbara County and South Monterey County. The fair will feature representatives from various colleges offering BSNs, Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degrees and other advanced nursing degrees.

According to a white paper by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 39 percent of hospitals and other healthcare settings require new RNs to have a bachelor’s degree, and 77 percent strongly prefer applicants have one.

“If you have long-term goals in nursing, you should consider earning your BSN,” said Cuesta College’s Nursing Director Marcia Scott. “We have heard from a number of schools that they will be attending this fair, and this is exciting as usually these events need to be held in larger, more urban areas to draw so many school representatives to attend.”

Many in-state and out-of-state schools are registered to attend, including Arizona State University, University of Texas Arlington and Chamberlain College of Nursing. Online and accelerated programs will also be represented.

The fair will take place on the San Luis Obispo Campus in building 2500, room 2502. Free parking will be available in lot 5 from 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Pizza will be provided, and there will be door and raffle prizes. Organizers encourage those interested to RSVP by calling (805) 546-3100, ext. 2579.
