The Cuesta College Office of Employment Training (OET) can help you tailor your education specifically to your career goals.
Your OET support team consists of the OET Director, a job developer, an academic counselor and a student support services specialist. This comprehensive program is designed to transition students receiving TANF funds from welfare to employment and financial self-sufficiency. While attending Cuesta College, you will learn entry-level and advanced job skills and obtain on-the-job training in an environment maximizing your potential for success. |
Cuesta College Office of Employment Training/CalWORKs provides individualized attention, assisting you to:
- Choose a career
- Obtain comprehensive academic and career counseling
- Plan a course of study that meets CalWORKs requirements
- Obtain priority registration
- Obtain financial aid, fee waivers, and scholarships
- Earn college credits while working
- Link up with a network of student services on campus
- Prepare and obtain employment, including work-study, internships and special projects
- Access CalJOBs, the internet job search database
- Write resumes and cover letters
- Find quality childcare
- Communicate with Department of Social Services clarifying policies and procedures

How to Sign-up with the Office of Employment Training/CalWORKs:
To qualify for our program you must be enrolled at Cuesta College in at least one class, and be receiving TANF or cash assistance from the Department of Social Services. Our program also offers assistance to students who are considering applying for TANF and those who have been off assistance for no more than three months. Whether you are a new or continuing student, please call 546-3924, or stop by our main office located in building 2000.

A tutor will be available in our CalWORKs office on Mondays and Wednesdays; call 546-3924 for hours.
