Can I be part of student senate as a voting member?
Yes. In fact, each club is strongly encouraged to have one of its members attend Senate meetings. These students are responsible for representing the needs of the students in the club this individual represents. Their respective club must have appointed the individual as club representative to ASCC Senate. These individuals must be members of good standing in their club and meet the requirements of the ASCC Constitution before they may be sworn into Senate as a voting Senator.
Club representatives report directly to the ASCC Clubs Commissioner.
Club representatives to Senate are also required to:
- Attend weekly meetings of Student Senate on the SLO Campus.
- Hold office hours for a minimum of one hour a week in the ASCC office in the Student Center.
- Attend semester retreats of ASCC at the expense of the ASCC budget.
All members of Senate (elected, appointed, and club representatives) will be required to follow the ASCC Constitution guidelines for attendance policy, as outlined in Article IV, Section 2B, 1 and 2, and as further detailed in the ASCC Attendance Policy Bylaws.
