ALUMNI GIFTS COMMITTEE
Cuesta College alumni and San Luis Obispo County leaders joined to create the first ever “alumni gifts committee” chaired by Elaine Cormier, class of 1981. Its purpose is to honor the 40 th anniversary of Cuesta College by presenting a “legacy” to express gratitude to faculty, staff and college leadership.
A bronze rendition of a cougar, the Cuesta College mascot, was created to conceptualize “launching your life with education at Cuesta College.” The scrupted piece has stacking books in the illusion of high craggy rocks, with the Cuesta mascot—the cougar—ready to leap, symbolic of Cuesta as the opportunity to reach new heights in one’s life.
We are currently recruiting other alumni to serve on the committee. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact us at (805) 546-3915 or e-mail alumni@cuesta.edu.
COUGAR LEGACY PROJECT
The Legacy Project, the bronze cougar, consists of 100 individually signed and numbered miniature cast bronze editions that are 6 to 8 inches in height, The Study, and are sold for $1,000 each. Ten signed and numbered individually cast editions of The Thesis are available at $5,000 each. These measure 16 to 20 inches in height. BOTH stand atop a granite base.
A life-size rendition of the cougar is in progress and will be installed on the Cuesta College San Luis Obispo Campus. Those who purchase a bronze cougar will have their name inscribed on the plaque at the base of the life-size cougar. You can support this project and own your own bronze cougar by sending in your reservation form to the Foundation.

ALUMNI EVENTS
The Alumni Association held the 2nd Annual Alumni BBW to honor the 2006 graduates on May 18, 2006. Charlie Cabassi along with Ken and Gaby Levine of the Alumi committee cooked up tri-tip steak sandwiches and the jazz music was provided be Ron MacCarley and his students. The event was emceed by Iris Swisher, Alumni Committee Vice Chair. The BBQ was highlighted by a visit from our "Cool Cat" cougar mascot!
