Mission Statement The Cuesta College Foundation is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization incorporated in 1973 for the purpose of providing essential financial support for the College’s programs, services, scholarships and capital campaigns. Foundation Programs… a good steward of community donations. Gift Legacy Program The Foundation’s charitable Gift Legacy Program was created as a service to our many friends who want to make a gift of significance, while still receiving an income from that gift during their lives. The Gift Legacy Program provides prospective supporters of Cuesta College with information on how to create a life income plan. A life income plan is a wonderful way to benefit from capital gains bypass, charitable tax savings and increased income and may be in the form or a Unitrust, a Gift Annuity, a Retirement Unitrust, an Annuity Trust, a Sale and Unitrust or a Unitrust and Insurance Trust. Major Gifts Program The Cuesta College Foundation Major Gifts Program provides supplemental support for the college’s major capital needs. The Foundation hopes to enhance the culture of philanthropy at Cuesta College, without which the college could not maintain the standard of excellence in facilities and educational services that it is known for throughout the community. Volunteer leadership within the Cuesta College Foundation is one of the college’s most valuable resources. The Annual Fund The purpose of the Annual Fund is to encourage community support with annual cash gifts. Giving to the Annual Fund is important because it provides the flexibility to meet the needs of instructional and support services. Cuesta College Business Partners Building community partnerships among business, labor, education, and government is an essential component of Cuesta’s mission to promote local economic vitality. “As Cuesta College Business Partners, our goal is to ensure that our Community College continues to provide the educational and training needs of our workforce as we strive to meet the demands of our changing and complex world,” said James W. Brabeck, the General Manager of Farm Supply Co. Ambassador Program The primary purpose of the program is to provide a forum of interaction between Foundation Board members and college divisions/departments. Foundation Board members volunteer as ambassadors to a department in which they have expressed an interest. In this capacity they partner with faculty to expand opportunities in resource development. Alumni Association The purpose of the Alumni Association is to develop relationships between college friends and former students and to support and promote the goals, activities, and interests of the college. The Alumni Association provides a vehicle to stimulate support and to keep alumni, friends, and the community aware and involved. Honored Alumnus The Alumni Association established the Honored Alumnus Award in 1989 and annually celebrates the achievements of an exemplary former student. Alumni Legacy Project In commemoration of 40 years of excellence, Cuesta College alumni who are San Luis Obispo County leaders joined together to create the first-ever “alumni gifts committee,” chaired by Elaine Cormier, OD, class of 1981. “I’m delighted with this opportunity to give back to the college that changed my life.” Leadership and Staff INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT Staff June Stevens Karen Tacket Vacant Claire Ashby Elaine Coats Jeanne Greenelsh Stephan Gunsaulus Kate M.
