Campaign for Cuesta

Cuesta College launched its first capital fund drive in 1996, resulting in more than $6 million, reaching its goal to build a satellite campus and to provide improved technology capability for both campuses.  Through the leadership of the Cuesta College Foundation and a core of spirited and determined volunteers, businesses, college faculty, staff, and students, dreams of a new college became a reality when it opened its doors in 1998.

Donations to The Campaign for Cuesta were used to build the North County Campus and to upgrade and renovate technology capabilities at both campuses.  This campaign represented a milestone for Cuesta College and community colleges throughout the state.  Never before in the history of California Community College has private gift support built a new campus.  Congratulations to all of those who gave cheerfully of their time and energy toward the successful completion of The Campaign for Cuesta.

Since the first capital fund drive, the Foundation Board of Directors has raised another $5 million in support of capital needs for Cuesta College.  Funds were raised to add to more buildings at the North County Campus;  to renovate the track and field facilities at the San Luis Obispo site; to make essential repairs to save the old auditorium for community and college use; to renovate labs in the science building and the broadcast communication facility; to add needed equipment for the new addition to the college's fine and performing arts facility and the new high tech center.

These are a few examples of the collective efforts of a community to help shape a brighter future for Cuesta College and the communities it serves.

The Foundation's work includes raising funds for scholarships, library acquisitions, equipment for classrooms and laboratories, and to support special projects like sending the college's award winning Vocé  to the International conference in Toronto in 2003.

Cuesta College is proud of its strong community and business relationships, enabling it to serve as a major contributor to the economic health and well-being of San Luis Obispo County.

We are grateful for the friendship and support of the people of California's beautiful Central Coast who are the volunteers and donors who make Cuesta a first-class, first-rate choice for higher education and workforce training.
