The Writer’s Tool Box: How to Create Compelling Content

A series of 5 writing classes each tailored to a specific area for the new and blossoming writer. Classes include memoir, blogging, strong characters, screenwriting, and food critique. No class is a prerequisite to the other, and new students are welcome at any point. Each 2-hour class includes a PowerPoint presentation, in class participation, at home assignments and writer assessment from the instructor.

1. 3/1 - Writing Your Life’s Story: Learn how to get your most treasured memories written down for prosperity. Instruction includes plot, character, theme, and a step-by-step guide to writing your stories.

2. 3/8 - Blogging for Business and Fun: Did you know that many websites are actually blogs? And that it is free to set up and use? Blogging is the new way to spread your writing, established writing business, or personal message, ideas, ideology, products and more. This class will teach you how to build a Blogger site and the tips to populate and market the blog.

3. 3/15 - How to Write Strong Characters: This class teaches how to build a complete profile for each character and let them drive your plot.


4. 3/22 - Screenwriting for the Soul: Tips, ideas, skill set and more to write your script and sell it to Hollywood or produce it yourself.

5. 3/29 - Will Write for Food: This class is held at a local restaurant where students dine, taste wine pairings, talk with Chef and then write on the experience. Instruction includes submission and tips to write for local publications. Class will meet off campus on Wednesday, March 29. Restaurant location TBD.
