Historic European Martial Arts: Italian Longsword I
This introductory class will cover the Italian tradition of longsword combat based on the 1409 fight manual “Flower of Battle” by Fiore dei Liberi. In this class, students will learn footwork, movement, and guards particular to this style of fighting. Throughout the semester students will also learn and apply “plays” or described actions as illustrated in the manual.
Fencing masks are strongly recommended for this class. For minimum head protection, the instructor recommends the HEMA basic fencing mask from Purpleheart Armoury (woodenswords.com).
Drop-in available for $20. If you decide to become part of the class, this amount will be deducted from your course enrollment fee. Monthly payment plans available.
