Case of the Disappearing Spam Folder

Q:        Drat! My Spam folder keeps disappearing! What’s happening?

A:         The most likely scenario is that when attempting to diligently delete those undesirables in your Spam folder, you’re accidentally obliterating the folder instead of the contents.

Follow this procedure to successfully scrap those spam messages:

1.      Click on the Spam folder to select it.

2.      Click on one of the e-mail messages in the Spam folder.
The selected message will be highlighted in blue.

3.      Hold down the [Ctrl] key and press the letter “A”.
All of the messages in the Spam folder will be highlighted.

4.      Press the [Delete] key.
All of the highlighted messages will be “deleted” (read: moved to the Deleted Items folder).

I have more good news. Next time your Spam folder “vanishes”, immediately check your Deleted Items folder. If the Deleted Items folder has not been emptied since Spam’s disappearance, you can click the plus sign to the right of the Deleted Items icon and simply drag the Spam folder back to its original location.
