A. ELIC is the Employee Learning and Innovation Center. It was created to facilitate learning opportunities for the staff and faculty and be an incubator for curriculum innovation. In ELIC you can scan photos or documents, print in b&w or color, burn CDs and DVDs, use instructional materials for self-study, or just relax in this quiet sanctuary. (back to top) A. All employees may use ELIC. The Learning Room is available for scheduled, computer assisted group learning activities. The Innovation Room is available to all staff and faculty--with priority given to those working on curriculum enrichment projects. (back to top) A. ELIC is located in Building 6900 near Reprographics and Parking Lot 3. (back to top) Q. If something is not working properly, whom do I call? A. Report it to the staff on duty at the ELIC desk or call Computer Services at ext. 3248. (back to top) A. The Learning Room may be scheduled by contacting Computer Services at ext. 3248. The Innovation Room will be unlocked from 8:00 to 5:00, Monday through Friday. However, ELIC is available for use any time. The door code is all that is required. You may obtain the code by contacting Dave Dowell at ext. 3159. (back to top) Q. How can I get in when ELIC is closed? A. The Innovation Room is accessible any time. If I don't have a computer in my office, can I use the ELIC? A. It is not the purpose of ELIC to offer computers to those for whom their divisions have not provided a primary computer. However, if workstations are available in the Innovation Room, they may be used until needed by those working on curricular projects. (back to top) Q. What equipment and software is available for me to use in ELIC? A. Click here to view the software and hardware available in ELIC. Q. What type of training is available? Who do I contact for training? A. Click here to view the current training calendar. If these classes or times are not convenient for you, contact Computer Services at ext. 3248 to make other arrangements. (back to top) Q. Can these training classes be used for FLEX credit? A. Yes. The Activity Number is "3000". Click here for more information about FLEX credit. (back to top) Q. Can I print 50 copies of my flyer, brochure, newsletter, etc. on the color printer? A. No. The color printer is for learning and creation not production. You must use your department color printer or Reprographics. (back to top) Q. Can I put my own software on these computers? A. We attempt to provide a robust collection of software, particularly in the Innovation Room. These computers should not be your primary computer. Please do not load your software on them. You can suggest to Center staff software that should be acquired as the budget allows. Click here to see the software available. (back to top) Q. Is there a charge for consumables? A. Regular paper will be provided at no charge for single copies of work produced. Recycled floppy disks will also be available. However, you will need to bring your own zip disks, CDs or specialty paper for printing on the color printer. (back to top) Q. Will there be someone there to help me? A. Due to staffing limitations, ELIC currently is unmanned. Please call Computer Services at ext. 3248 to schedule assistance. (back to top) Q. If no one is there, can I still use the computers? A. The computers in the Innovation Room are available all the time. The code to open the door is all that's required. You may obtain the code by contacting Dave Dowell at ext. 3159. (back to top)Q. How do I auto-forward my Cuesta e-mail to another address? A. While each Cuesta College employee is responsible for maintaining their Cuesta e-mail account (i.e. assuring appropriate folders are emptied), forwarding Cuesta e-mail to personal e-mail address is not condemned. For instructions, Mac-users click here and Windows-users click here.Please be aware that you are still responsible for reading important Cuesta e-mail, even should forwarded e-mail not be delivered due to problems caused by your non-Cuesta e-mail provider (i.e. "over-zealous" spam filtering, etc).
