Petra Clayton,
German Instructor

Petra Clayton is a native of Germany. In 1965 she graduated with the Abitur from the Helene-Lange-Schule, a Gymnasium in Wiesbaden. She came to California in 1966 and to San Luis Obispo County in 1972 after completing her studies at the University of California, Riverside. Her teaching experience includes seven months at the Defense Language Institute, Monterey.

After thirteen years working as a claims representative at the Social Security Office in San Luis Obispo, it was time to change careers. Falling back on her education and teaching experience, she started teaching German at Cuesta College in 1987.

During her vacations she explores the back roads of the U.S. with her husband Jack or travels to Germany to see family and friends. Recreational interests include bicycling, birding, camping, cross-country skiing, gardening, hiking, kayaking, swimming.
