Introduction to Distance Education at Cuesta

Welcome to Distance Education at Cuesta College. Courses offered in this modality are delivered "at a distance" with either limited or no required on-campus sessions.

Distance education provides an alternative to the traditional classroom-based format, however, it does place more responsibility on the student to be self-disciplined and to apply solid independent study skills. Find out more about how successful you may be at distance education by taking an online assessment test at "For whom?".

Courses offered through Cuesta College's Distance Education program are equivalent to the classroom-based version in course content, textbooks, required assignments, exams, study time, etc. The only difference is the method in which the course is delivered.

It is important before registering for a distance education course that you read the Course Welcome Letter. Some distance education courses have mandatory face-to-face meetings, require certain technologies, and/or have other requirements students should know about before taking the course.

To find out more, explore some of the links within this site to see if a distance education course is right for you.

Do I need to register to take Distance Education Courses?

Yes. Registration for a distance education course is no different that of a regular classroom course. To register, follow the steps provided under Get Started. Courses are held during regular dates of instruction with a maximum capacity assigned to each section. If the class is closed/full, students may waitlist prior to the first class meeting. Please review the fee schedule for the cost to attend and other important information below:
