Student Success Center Logo

The Student Success Center (SSC) offers services and instruction to help you achieve your personal, educational, and vocational goals. The SSC promotes learning strategies and attitudes necessary for academic success. Services are available on both the San Luis Obispo and the North County Campus. ALL OF OUR SERVICES ARE FREE!

  • In-person Tutoring: free drop-in tutoring is available in a variety of subjects including, but not limited to, math, sciences, foreign language and humanities.
  • Online tutoring: all enrolled students have access to 24/7, free, online tutoring through the NetTutor service.
  • Writing Help: The Writing Center provides writing support to all students. It is staffed by English instructors and other SSC employees who provide drop-in help on any writing assignment. Help with college application essays is available also.
  • Classes: The College Success Lab is an independent study, .5 or 1.0 unit course providing access to an open-entry computer, video and audio tutorial lab where students can work independently and at their own convenience to improve their skills in grammar, writing, vocabulary, spelling, math, reading, study skills, keyboarding, and word processing.
  • Assessment Test Help: Preparation assistance for math and English assessment tests is also available through the College Success Lab. Visit us for PLATO software on the SLO campus in building 3300. For information about test dates, times and other information, visit the Assessment Services Website.
  • College Success Workshops: These workshops include topics such as: How to Succeed in College; Avoiding Procrastination; Time Management; and Study Skills. Workshops are also available and accessible to students for online viewing at any time through the Student Success Center web site (see the link to the right).
  • Student Preparation Workshops:  The Student Success Center also collaborates with academic faculty to provide workshops in a variety of subjects during the days immediately preceding the start of each semester. The workshops focus on aiding students who are members of underserved populations or are enrolled in low-pass-rate courses to get a head start in making the semester successful.
