Comparison Chart - Full Time Students
of Chapter 30 and Chapter 33 Benefits

Review the information below before electing Chapter 33 benefits.  Do not select Chapter 33 irrevocable electron unless you have reviewed all your options and make an absolute decision to use Post-9/11 GI-Bill, Chapter 33 benefits.

Election of Chapter 33 is irrevocable.  If you elect to begin your Chapter 33 benefits you can never use the Chapter 30 benefits. Review this comparison chart before you begin your Chapter 33 benefits. Depending on your education goals, you may benefit from using your Chapter 30 benefits first and then applying for Chapter 33 benefits.

Do you need an extra 12 months of benefits? Each Chapter (30, 33) offers 36 months of benefits; however, if you use all your Chapter 30 benefits first you can still use your Chapter 33 for an extra 12 months if you qualify for Chapter 33. That is a total of 48 months of benefits. If you do not use all 36 months of Chapter 30 and want to switch to Chapter 33, you will only qualify to use whatever time remains of the initial 36 months of Chapter 30.
