A total of 42 Cuesta College students will showcase 62 works of art in Cuesta College’s Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition, running April 14 – May 12 in the college’s Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery. On the evening April 14, an opening reception, open house, faculty exhibit and award ceremony will take place. The event is free to the public.

According to event organizers, the annual exhibition gives Cuesta College Fine Arts Program students an opportunity to participate in a process usually limited to professional artists, and a chance to display and talk about their work. The exhibit will include art created with photography, ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing, 3-D, and graphic design.

“This year’s submissions thoroughly demonstrate the diversity of both medium and content that the department has to offer,” said Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery Coordinator Emma Saperstein. “I’m so impressed with our students’ talent and drive. We are also excited to showcase our performing arts ensembles and state-of-the-art classrooms.”

The April 14 event schedule is as follows:

·       3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.: tours of the fine and performing arts facilities

·       4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.: music performances by Cuesta Voce, Cuesta Chamber Singers, Jazz Combos and Jazz Ensemble

·       4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.: opening reception of exhibition

·       6:00 p.m.: student awards ceremony

Professional artist Nick Wilkinson, who lives and works on the Central Coast, juried the student works. Since 2015, Wilkinson has served as the director of San Luis Obispo’s Left Field Gallery. In addition, his works have appeared in galleries across the country.
