Clay Stomp
Cuesta College’s Ceramics Program is gearing up to host the college’s 4th Annual Clay Stomp, and students, faculty, staff and the public are invited to come mix more than 5,000 pounds of clay with their feet. The stomp will take place on Thursday, September 15, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., on the grassy area between the Fine Arts building (7100) and the cafeteria (building 5100) on the San Luis Obispo Campus.
The event is expected to draw at least 100 participants, including children from the college’s Children’s Center. The clay will be used by students in the ceramics classes for the semester.
“This event is very important to me - my father began the tradition when he started stomping clay in his back yard in 1978,” said Jarred Pfeiffer, event organizer and Cuesta College ceramics instructor. “The stomp is a way to bring students, faculty and community members together to have fun and help out. And hopefully participants will learn more about ceramics and then take a class in the future.”
