Cuesta College is offering a free seminar to those interested in starting and growing a business. The seminar, scheduled for March 15 and March 23 in northern San Luis Obispo County, will provide attendees with a multitude of ideas and tips regarding going into business.

“Whether you have the perfect idea for a start-up, you want to transition your hobby into a career, or have already launched your new business and don’t know what to do next, this seminar is for you,” said Cuesta College Business Instructor and seminar lecturer Gary Rubin. “We are offering a free three hours full of key and essential steps to starting and running a business and getting it growing in the right direction.”

Attendees will learn about:

·       The entrepreneurship mindset

·       Choice of entity options

·       Funding sources

·       Leasing

·       Financial statements and cash flow

·       Permits and licensing

·       Marketing and promotion

·       Employee issues

In addition to being an instructor at Cuesta College, lecturer Rubin also serves as the college’s North County Campus Workforce & Economic Development Cluster Coordinator. Since 1985, Rubin has been an active member of the California Bar, practicing in the areas of business startup, purchase and sale, tax, and estate planning. He has 28 years of teaching experience and has written and lectured on numerous education, legal, business, and tax issues.

The free seminar will take place Wednesday, March 15, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., in Dallons Hall at Cuesta College North County Campus, 2800 Buena Vista Drive, Paso Robles; and Thursday, March 23, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott, 900 El Camino Real, Atascadero.
