The Art of Songwriting
Want to know what it takes to write a song? Did you know that many of the biggest hits are based on similar chord progressions? Learn the step-by-step process of songwriting. You'll learn tricks of the trade from actual real-world songwriters. Each week, I bring in a different local songwriter who will share his/her unique approach to songwriting. Past songwriters include Steve Key and Nick Larson (Próxima Parada). You'll get a rare look behind the scenes to apply to writing your own songs. On the last night, you'll be given the opportunity to perform your song for the rest of class. Do you have an ear for the next big hit? You'll never know until you try!
- 10/07/19 - Susan Ritchie

Note: In addition to the registration fee, a honorarium of $10 per attendee to be paid directly to the guest songwriter. Students are recommended to bring a notebook and recorder (you can download an app for your phone if you don't have one).
