Dynamic Outdoor Photography
In this illuminating 6-week adventure, you'll learn to greatly enhance your picture-taking skills while unlocking your artistic potential. Course topics include expanding your creative vision, seeing beyond first impressions, understanding light, experimenting with composition, conveying a sense of motion, exploring unique points of view, creating and controlling depth, and shooting sunsets and twilight. Techniques apply to a range of subjects from seascapes and landscapes, to intimate scenics and people in the outdoors, to cityscapes and travel scenes. Classroom sessions involve a lively mix of instructional slide shows, assignments, critiques and discussions, while a field trip puts it all into practice. Emphasis is on natural light and on capturing images "in-camera" without major post-processing. Equipment: digital camera with adjustable controls, and a lens or lenses that extends from wide-angle to telephoto. A tripod is recommended. NOTE: For upper beginner through advanced; a basic knowledge of shutter speed, F/stops and ISO is advisable.
Saturday Field Session: March 7, 2020. From late afternoon through sunset, we’ll meet in the coastal village of Cayucos. Details will be announced in class.
