Cartooning with a Raytoons Cartoonist
Visit with Cartoonist/Writer Raymond Mullikin, the creator of various Raytoons comic books and children's books, such as "Quackup" and "2 Many Parakeets". He will show students how to create their own cartoon characters, working in a humorous "Sunday funnies" style. They will learn warm-up and imagination exercises that cartoonists use and discover the basic drawing techniques that make up a cartoon, such as line, shape and value (elements of design). They will be able to draw humorous, simplified faces and figures, cartoon animals, and more. Students will also get drawings and a signed comic book from the artist.
For interested students under the age of 13, please call Community Programs for approval at 805-546-3132.
