Historical European Martial Arts: Singlestick
Students will learn the practice of classic military single-handed swords, as represented by the art of the singlestick. From the traditional Scottish broadsword that earned its fame on the fields of Sheriffmuir and Killiekrankie, and the small sword used by the duelist McBane, to the military saber and cutlass. The singlestick was a tool used to train the military as well as youth up to the turn of the 20th century.
This class will teach students about proper footwork, guards, cuts, and exercise drills to become an effective single-handed sword practitioner.
While new material will be introduced in every session, there will be enough review that drop-in attendees will be able to fully participate. All skill levels are welcome.
Drop-in available for $20. If you decide to become part of the class, this amount will be deducted from your course enrollment fee.
