Exploration of Spanish Music and Culture
The central goal of this class is to provide students with the opportunity to explore Spanish culture and language through music. The class will be student-centered as students choose a song that they want to bring to class to share or choose a song to learn from those shared by other classmates or the instructor. Students will get the chance to write their own songs or poems in Spanish if they have prior knowledge of the language. Students who are not yet comfortable expressing themselves in Spanish will have the chance to increase their own confidence in learning the language through engagement with the songs and poems. The lessons will begin with listening to songs in Spanish while reading along with the lyrics/letras and will continue into independent working time where students work on learning the language through one of the songs they are interested in or work on writing their own songs or poems if they feel inspired to do so.
