Two Cuesta Grapplers Earn All-SEC Honors
SAN LUIS OBISPO (December 11, 2018)- Cuesta Wrestling finished 18th at the 2018 CCCAA State Wrestling Championships in Cerritos. The Cougars qualified three wrestlers for the 2018 CCCAA State Wrestling Championships. The Cougars’ three qualifiers were combined 5-7 on the weekend, however State Qualifiers Humphrey Quirie (Tuolumne) and Anthony Stenschke (Hanford) also earned all-SouthEast Conference honors. The Cougars were 1-4 in dual meets this season and finished 5th at the SEC Tournament.

184- Two-time State Qualifier Victor Bryson (Lompoc) claimed 6th place with a 2-3 record. Bryson worked his way through the consolation bracket to be the Cougars’ highest place winner in the tournament. He ended the season16-16overall.
149- 2018 All-SEC Honorable Mention choice Humphrey Quirie (Tuolumne) was a 2018 CCCAA State Place Winner. Quirie was 3-2 on the weekend and landed in 7th place. He won reached the quarterfinals of the championship bracket and then the consolation bracket, before winning the 7th place bout. He ended the season 18-14 overall.
197- 2018 All-SEC First Teamer Anthony Stenschke (Hanford) was 0-2 this at the CCCAA State Meet and did not place. The #1-seed from the South Region, Stenschke’s huge sophomore season had an unexpected ending, however he also closed the season with a 23-5 overall record. His 82.1% season winning percentage is the 10th best mark on record by a Cuesta Grappler.
