Online Training and Resources for Faculty
Training is available on-campus or online. These resources are available to all faculty to help you gain new skills for teaching in our Learning Management System or improving your teaching skills in general.
Meet and Use Canvas:
You should use the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) to provide instruction
to your students (synchronously or asynchronously)!! Students must be authenticated
by a LMS using their Cuesta User Profile (log on and password) to meet ACCJC and Title
5. Once they enter your course you may provide access to your course materials, online
meeting space (zoom or conferences), and / or publisher site.

CREATE and USE Accessible Content:
It is required by law and Title 5 that all course content; regardless of delivery modality (DE or F2F) be accessible at the start of the course. Because we receive federal funding, all Faculty and staff have a responsibility to ensure all material provided to students or the public meet ADA Section 504 and 508 standards. If you are unfamiliar with the laws or how to develop Accessible Content, you might be interested in these Self Paced Courses as a starting Place:
Online Teacher Certification Courses:
The Online Education Committee has established 3 options for certification. The options are fully online facilitated courses; offered every semester; the online courses starts around the third week of the semester in Fall, and Spring, and during finals week for Summer. Flex Credit or compensation (if approved) is available.
Review the Certification Course descriptions and available dates. Please complete and submit the appropriate form. Once received by the DE Standard Subcommittee, the form will be emailed to your chair, and they will forward to your dean. Once the training is completed, the DE Standards Subcommittee will sign the form and return it to you for your records. Preregistration is required and fills quickly!! Email cwilshus@cuesta.edu with questions.
Prior to teaching online instructors are required to meet teaching qualifications according to AP4105 and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (recommended to complete training two semesters prior to assignment).
