Student Government

Who We Are

Read the ASCC Constitution

Your student government, Associated Students of Cuesta College (ASCC), is here to promote the general welfare of Cuesta College students; to guarantee equality of opportunity among students; to offer an experience in the practice of the American democratic government; and to encourage student participation in, planning for, and involvement in a comprehensive program of student activities. It offers opportunities to participate in social and cultural activities, to share in governance activities, to interact with professionals, and to create and administer their own organizations and programs. Members of ASCC are all Cuesta College students, not employees of the school. Meet our current ASCC officers and learn more about what they do.

Got something to say? Come talk to a member of the ASCC Executive Cabinet!
Office hours are held every week. This is a chance for Cuesta students to connect with their representatives! See below for this week's schedule.

ASCC Officers are tasked with representing the student voice on campus so that administrators, faculty and staff better understand the needs and concerns of the student body. They are members of campus-wide committees, attend conferences to refine their advocacy and leadership skills, plan events, and hold meetings every week in which they discuss issues that are relevant to student life.

ASCC Officers and Senators need student feedback! Our current student officers and their contact information is listed below. You can also attend one of their meetings, come by the Student Life and Leadership Office (building 5300) during their office hours or give feedback anonymously through an ASCC Suggestion Box.

ASCC suggestion boxes are in the following locations:
Just inside the electric cafeteria doors
The Student Success Center lobby
In the library next to the printers.

The Executive Cabinet
The Executive Cabinet (E-Cab) consists of elected and appointed officers within ASCC. The E-Cab positions are the ASCC President/Student Trustee, Vice President, Activities Director, Publicity Director, Finance Director, Clubs Director, Chief Justice, North County Director and Secretary. Constitution Day

Section 111 of the "Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2005" established a statutory requirement for implementation of an educational program pertaining to the United States Constitution, designated by statute as Constitution Day and Citizenship Day ("Constitution Day"). An educational institution which receives Federal Funds for a fiscal year shall hold an educational program on the United States Constitution on or about September 17 of such year for the students served by the educational institution.

Each year ASCC plans event(s) that are meaningful and related to this statutory requirement. These events range from formal programs, films, and passing out a constitutional booklet, to engaging in small and large group conversations. This is just one example of the activities hosted by ASCC throughout the year. Please check the Event Calendar for current listing of events.
