WELCOME TO CUESTA COLLEGE!
Computer Access
By this time a Cuesta login should have been provided to you. You can use the network
login for access to Cuesta computers/devices and to access most Cuesta systems.
Every Employee at Cuesta is issued a Microsoft Office 365 license. You can use this
license to access your Cuesta mail and other Microsoft Office applications, such as
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. A few key points to know about your account:
- When you are using a Cuesta computer/device, the common desktop applications have already been installed and are ready for you to use
- You also have access to the web-based applications and can access them from the Office 365 homepage from anywhere you have internet connection - login using your Cuesta email and Cuesta password.
Other Technology Info
When you have Cuesta files to save that only you need access to, save the files to your OneDrive. You can access your OneDrive from any browser, or if you are using a Cuesta computer you will find your OneDrive in your File Explorer.
When you have Cuesta files to save that would benefit your whole division/department, you should save your files to a shared location, such as Microsoft Teams, or a Network drive (g or v drive). Check with your supervisor for the best shared location to use for your division/department.
Use myCuesta to access commonly used Cuesta systems, applications, and resources. And, keep up to date on calendar announcements. Learn more by viewing the myCuesta demo.
Anytime you need technology support or have a technology issue you can submit an IT work order for assistance. To create a work order:
- Access the IT work order system by selecting the Work Orders icon in myCuesta and then choosing Information Technology
- Or, another easy way to create a work order is to simply email ITsupport@cuesta.edu.
Communications regarding your support/issue will be via email or you can check the
IT ticketing system for your open and/or closed tickets.
To learn more about the technology at Cuesta you can visit the Information Technology Tips & How-To pages or the FAQ page on the Cuesta Website. Another great learning resource is the Cuesta Tech Trainer, reach out to the Tech Trainer anytime with your inquiries or to schedule one-on-one training.
The IT helpdesk can be reached by phone at 805-546-3248. All classrooms will have a quick dial on the classroom phone to reach our helpdesk too.
All employees should be familiar with the Computer and Network use policies; BP 3720 and AP 3720.
Some best practices include:
- Protect personal information - this includes general Cuesta information, student information, and your own information.
- Only use your @cuesta email address for work related purposes. If you register with a third-party provider for work related activity, create a unique
password for the account that is not the same as what you use to login to your Cuesta
systems (i.e. myCuesta, Canvas, etc.)
If you are registering an account with a third-party provider for personal use, always use a personal email for registration. - Save files and data thoughtfully - your Cuesta provided OneDrive and department shared file locations (i.e. Teams, SharePoint or Network drives) are dependable data storage locations.
- Click with care! - clicking on unsolicited/unfamiliar links is always risky. If you are ever unsure, contact the sender by phone or through a separate email to confirm the request or send an email to usersupport@cuesta.edu for assistance.
- Lock your computer screen - use Windows key + L on a PC or Command key + Q on a Mac to lock your screen anytime you walk away from your computer/device.
- Beware of Phishing Emails. Look out for:
- Sender addresses outside the Cuesta domain (not @cuesta.edu)
- Misspellings, poor punctuation, typos or strange formatting
- Unfamiliar tones or word choice
- Subject lines that begin with [EXTERNAL]
- Unusual signature lines
- A sense of urgency
