What is CalFresh?
CalFresh is California's nutrition assistance program that helps eligible students and families
purchase healthy, nutritious food. Benefits are provided monthly on an Electronic
Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, which can be used like a debit card at most grocery
stores, farmers' markets, and many participating retailers.
Cuesta Essentials offers free CalFresh application assistance to help students determine
their eligibility, complete the application process, and connect with this valuable
resource to support their well-being and academic success.
Applying to CalFresh
Our team is here to help you determine your eligibility and guide you through the CalFresh application process!
What to Expect
Schedule an appointment with a Basic Needs Coordinator to help you complete your application and review the required documentation needed to support your eligibility.
After your application and verification documents have been submitted, the county
will review your information over the next 30 days. During this time, you will be
scheduled for an interview with the county and may be asked to provide additional
documentation to complete the eligibility process.
Once your CalFresh benefits are approved, your Basic Needs Coordinator will help you
understand how to use your benefits, answer any questions you may have, and provide
guidance on maintaining your eligibility so you can continue accessing this valuable
resource.
