To be eligible for The Cuesta Promise, a student must complete all application materials by August 1.
Apeals will not be accepted for applications or requirements met after the deadline.
In addition, to be eligible for The Cuesta Promise, students must:
- Have a high school diploma or the equivalent (as determined by the Cuesta College Enrollment Services) dated between July 1 and June 30 of the applicable year.
- Have a high school diploma from a San Luis Obispo Community College District Service Area high school,continuation school, charter school, alternative school, independent study, home school, youth academy or other eligible educational institution (as determined by the Cuesta College Enrollment Services).
- Be a San Luis Obispo Community College District Service Area permanent resident at the time of your high school graduation/equivalency.
- Be a California resident or AB540 Student
*In most cases, home school students will need to submit a first year The Cuesta Promise appeal when the school is not automatically recognized as eligible. This will be using the First Year The Cuesta Promise Scholarship Appeal Form.
At the completion of the first year using The Cuesta Promise, students must have: - Received a 2.0 or higher GPA
- Completed more than 50% of units/credits attempted with a grade of D or better
If extenuating circumstances existed that prevented a student from meeting these requirements during the first year using Cuestra Promise, a student complete a Second Year Cuesta Promise Scholarships Appeal Form. The appeal should explain the extenuating circumstances and contain documentaiton supporting the circumstances that prevented the student from reaching the minimum completion requirements.
