The Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery is pleased to present The Faculty Biannual, featuring work by Cuesta College Faculty Artists. The works gathered here represent hours of dedicated research, years of study, and a lifetime of practice. Each Faculty Artist maintains a studio practice, engaging in sustained inquiry into materials, processes, and ideas. They develop their expertise through this work and demonstrate it publicly through exhibition, the visual arts equivalent of publication. The insight Faculty Artists bring to teaching comes from that practice.
These artists exhibit in galleries and museums, create books, and curate exhibitions. They preserve centuries-old techniques, operate presses and foundries, and develop academic programs. Their professional achievements form the foundation of their teaching. The Biannual puts the work of practicing professionals in front of the community they serve and lets students see their instructors as the working artists they are.
