If you have already included Cuesta in your plans, we would appreciate the opportunity to thank you and understand your intentions. Sharing your plans also helps the Foundation prepare to honor your wishes when the time comes.

You may designate a specific amount, percentage, or remainder of your estate to benefit the Cuesta College Foundation.

You may designate the Foundation as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or explore the possibility of donating an eligible policy.

You may name the Foundation as a beneficiary of an IRA or other eligible retirement account.

Some supporters also choose to make gifts during their lifetimes. For example, eligible donors age 70½ or older may consider a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) made directly from an IRA. QCDs are current gifts and are distinct from future estate commitments. Ask your tax advisor whether a QCD may be appropriate for you.

Depending on your goals, charitable trusts and other arrangements may be available. The Foundation can discuss your intended purpose and coordinate with your professional advisors.

A Legacy in Action: The Cuesta Promise

The Cuesta Promise offers an example of how a philanthropic commitment can continue creating opportunities across generations. The program grew from a gift of more than $8 million from the Charles and Leeta Dovica Family Trust and has helped more than 10,000 local students begin college fee-free.

The Dovica family’s generosity continues to help students and families across San Luis Obispo County see higher education as an attainable next step.
