No, notes and receipts are NOT accepted in lieu of a valid parking permit.

All vehicles parked on the San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles campuses must have a valid parking permit. Contact the department sponsoring your visit, they may request a temporary permit for you or advise on how to obtain a parking permit.

Daily (One-day) permits are available for $4 per day.

Virtual Daily permits can be purchased online at the Cuesta College permit portal.  (https://cuestacollege.thepermitportal.com/)

    • Staff & Students - Click on Login. Use your Cuesta credentials.
    • Community Programs Patrons - Click on Guest.
    • Visitors - Click on Guest.

Physical permits can be purchased from any of the self-serve permit machines located in any parking lot on the SLO or Paso Robles campus or in-person at the SLO Campus Police office in building 7500.

  • Permit machines accept: One dollar bills ($1) only, No Coins, Credit Cards, Apple & Android Pay. Machines do not give change.
  • Permits purchased from parking lot machines must be clearly displayed, date side up, on the front dashboard.

Daily permits are valid in General parking spaces only, not in Staff spaces.

Students and visitors who plan to be on campus for 20 minutes or less may park in spaces marked "20-minute parking". No permit is required while parked in the 20-minute zone.  If you think your visit may take longer than 20 minutes, we suggest that you purchase a Daily parking permit for $4.

Yes, enter the temporary license plate when you enter your vehicle information. When you receive your license plates from the DMV, you must change the license plate in the permit portal.

If you loan your vehicle to someone, make sure they know where you can park on campus. Cuesta College parking citations are forwarded to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) if they are not paid within the 30-day time limit. The citation fee will appear on the vehicles' registration and must be paid to the DMV.

Permits are valid on either campus. You do not need to purchase a permit for each campus.

You may appeal a parking citation at any time within 21 days from the date of the violation. For information on the citation appeal process, please click here.

Unpaid citations are reported to the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The DMV will not allow vehicles to be registered with delinquent parking citations.

Vehicles with five (5) or more unpaid campus parking citations may be booted or towed from campus property and stored at owners’ expense.

Please contact Cuesta Police at (805) 546-3205 if you need assistance.

It is recommended that oversized vehicles and buses park on the campus perimeter roadways to avoid a citation.  Permits are required on perimeter roads on Cuesta property.

Citations can be paid online or by mail.
