Quilting making is an ancient creative practice still relevant today; art quilts, modern quilts, whole cloth quilts, country quilts, there are endless styles of quilts, all of which can be used for warmth and/or beauty. In this class you will learn the modern cutting technique of rotary cutting, how to sew an accurate 1/4” seam, and assemble a quilt top. This is the first of 3 classes that encompass the full quilt making process, register for the next class to learn layering and quilting. Bring to class your sewing machine with power cord and foot pedal, (or borrow a machine from Community Programs), and the materials and supplies in the list that will be sent to you upon registration. Using my mothers sewing space I challenged myself with new fabrics and techniques and soon began altering patterns to better fit my body. I discovered the joys of teaching in 1998, and it would be my pleasure to teach you to make lovely things with needle and thread. |
