PASO ROBLES, Calif. – Cuesta College invites media and community members to attend the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new North County Campus Instructional Building on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, at 2 p.m.
The new facility expands hands-on educational opportunities at the North County Campus through flexible classroom and laboratory spaces designed for trade, technology, health, and wellness programs. It also includes a dedicated outdoor yard for instructional equipment and material storage.
Funded through the voter-approved Measure L bond, the Instructional Building represents Cuesta College’s continued investment in workforce preparation, lifelong learning, and modern educational facilities throughout San Luis Obispo County.
“This new Instructional Building reflects what is possible when a community invests in its college and in the success of its students,” said Cuesta College Superintendent/President Dr. Jill Stearns. “We are deeply grateful to the voters of San Luis Obispo County for supporting Measure L and making this important project possible.”
Measure L, a $275 million general obligation bond approved by voters in 2014, has supported major construction, repairs, and campus improvements across the San Luis Obispo County Community College District. The investments have helped create safer, more modern, and more student-centered environments for education, training, and support.
Beginning in the fall semester, the building will support technical training opportunities such as a Commercial Driver’s License simulator, soil science laboratory instruction, and blacksmithing. Health and wellness offerings will include kinesiology movement and Emeritus yoga.
The ceremony will feature welcome remarks from Dr. Stearns, project recognition remarks from Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Administrative Services Dr. Todd Hampton, and remarks from Cuesta College Superintendent/President Emeritus and Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee Chair Dr. Gilbert Stork. Representatives from local, regional, and state offices will also be invited to present certificates or resolutions recognizing the milestone.
Following the ceremony, guests will be invited to tour the building and view the classrooms, laboratories, outdoor instructional areas, and spaces where new programs will begin this fall. The event will also include architectural renderings and other project information presented by Cuesta College’s Facilities and Measure L teams.
