In conjunction with Cuesta College Community Programs and this fall’s 32nd Annual Central Coast Writers Conference, event organizers are currently seeking entries for the 2016 Central Coast Writers Contest. This year, the contest theme is “The Final Word” and includes four categories – flash fiction, short fiction, poetry and screenwriting.

“Each entry must depict this year’s theme as interpreted by the writer,” said Central Coast Writers Contest Director Tia Araminta. “This year’s judging panel boasts new and former judges who come to the contest with an impressive array of credentials; from best-selling and award-winning authors, to editors and publishers, to professors, to writing and workshop teachers.”

For short fiction, poetry and screenwriting, first place winners receive $1,000. Second place recipients get $500 and $100 goes to the third place winners. For the flash fiction category, the first place winner receives $500, second place is awarded $100 and third place gets $50.

Entries must be received by midnight on July 15, 2016. Submission guidelines, contest rules and judge profiles can be found online here.

The Central Coast Writers Conference will be held September 29 through October 1, 2016, on Cuesta College’s San Luis Obispo Campus. For more information on the conference, click here or email Contest Director Tia Araminta.
