The Burton Critical Needs Fund is provided by the John Burton Foundation to assist former Foster Youth with "critical needs and resources" so that they can be successful on their pathway to self sufficiency.

If you spent anytime in Foster Care on or after your 13th birthday up until your 26th birthday, and can provide us with documentation of such placement you are eligible to recieve a grant up to $300 per semester. In addition to this documentation you must complete an EOPS/CARE, CalWORKs, Foster Youth-Common Application that can be found in myCuesta, under Pick a Service, Common Application. After we receive your Common Application and the Burton Critical Needs application we will contact you for Foster Youth eligibility verification.

We will help you find and provide documentation so PLEASE apply even if you dont currently have eligibility paperwork. All applications will be considered on a first come, first serve basis and the funds can used for anything from textbooks, to car repairs to athletic gear.
