Cuesta Student Story
My name is Matthew Lozano and I am a sophomore at Cuesta College. Like many of my classmates I am also a veteran. I share both my story and the great need for providing upgrades to classrooms, labs and technology so that I may be trained with the latest industry-standard tools ensuring I am workforce ready.
I grew up on the road. My father, also a veteran, is completely disabled. My family and I moved from place to place throughout my childhood and in my late teens, I attended high school in Atascadero. It was shortly after school and the events of September 11, 2001 that I decided to join the United States Army. Over the five years of service and two deployments I experienced and learned many things but none as important to me as the importance of honor, discipline, respect and freedom. After a year off, I decided to go back to school at Cuesta College and continue my education. Today I am pursuing a degree in Psychology and someday hope to counsel other returning veterans as they come home.
Cuesta College has exceeded every one of my expectations. This college is a tremendous asset to anyone who is willing to work hard, achieve their goals and become the best person they can be.
Your gift to Cuesta College provides students like me with the resources and services we need to make a difference in this world. The Cuesta Fund is critical to the unfunded areas of greatest need identified by experienced faculty, staff and administration. Last year, donors like you helped us raise over $250,000 for the Cuesta Fund.
Thanks for taking the time to consider donating your precious resources to Cuesta College and investing in me and in future generations.
