Poetry Reading Features English Instructors
The Cuesta College library is set to celebrate National Poetry Month (April) with a free poetry reading on April 12, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., on the San Luis Obispo Campus in the Library Reading Room located in building 3200.
“We are inviting the community to come out, enjoy some original poetry, and hear from three Cuesta College English instructors as they share selections of their own work,” said Cuesta College Librarian Denise Fourie.
National Poetry Month was inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996. Over the years, it has become the largest literary celebration in the world with schools, publishers, libraries, booksellers, and poets.

Sean Boling
Paso Robles resident Sean Boling began teaching full-time at Cuesta College in 2000. Boling has written eight novels and a small collection of short stories, all available for free download on most devices and through most major online book distributors.
Bruce Badrigian
In 1998, Bruce Badrigian began teaching English part-time at Cuesta College while teaching full-time at Morro Bay High School. When asked why he wanted to become a Cuesta instructor when he already had a job teaching, the Morro Bay resident answered, “Because when I was 19-years-old, I needed direction in my life. I received that guidance and help from my instructors at Cuesta and hoped to pay such mentorship forward by providing similar help for students here at Cuesta.” Badrigian is now in his 40th year of teaching English.
Thomas Patchell
Thomas Patchell serves as an editor for the annual Tellus literary journal, which showcases the publication of Cuesta students’ essays, poetry, and short fiction. The South County resident also leads writing workshops for veterans and contributed to the anthology Veterans of War, Veterans of Peace.
