DESCRIPTION

English as a Second Language (ESL) is a discipline that focuses on language instruction for speakers of other languages in reading, writing, grammar, speaking and listening. Beginning level classes offer foundational instruction in English language skills, and the intermediate to advanced courses prepare students for degree-applicable English, technical education, and other mainstream college coursework. Students who successfully complete a designated sequence of courses within the program are eligible for a noncredit ESL certificate of competency.
