Dear Colleagues,

Masks are not required at Cuesta College, but they are welcome.

In response to the rising local community rates of COVID-19 and the case rates on their campus, Cal Poly has reinstated a mask requirement for all. A number of other colleges and schools have also brought back masking as the latest variant is spreading through the population. At this time, Cuesta College has very few students on campus and many employees are enjoying some time off. Our case rates are very, very low and we continue to monitor closely to make any adjustment warranted to maintain the well-being of our campuses.

Cal/OSHA recently updated workplace guidance. There are no longer different protocols based on vaccination status. Isolation and quarantine are now the same for all individuals. Human Resources provides you specific information when you have a positive test or close contact with a positive individual.

It is important that you contact Human Resources at (805) 546-3129 or hr@cuesta.edu if you test positive or someone in your household tests positive for COVID-19.

A kind reminder that vaccine (with boosters) and masking are the CDC recommended means of protecting yourself from getting sick. In fact, CDC has updated their guidance on wearing masks to protect yourself and others citing:

  • Masking is a critical public health tool and it is important to remember that any mask is better than no mask.
  • Wear the most protective mask you can that fits well and that you will wear consistently.
  • Wearing a well-fitted mask along with vaccination, self-testing, and physical distancing, helps protect you and others by reducing the chance of spreading COVID-19.

Masks and other supplies are available in myCuesta under the Work Orders tab.

Thank you for keeping Cuesta kind and healthy!
