Innovation Award Overview

In 2017, Cuesta College was a recipient of a state Award for Innovation in Higher Education through the California Department of Finance. Cuesta College was selected for a $2 million award by the strong work in partnering with local high school districts by providing Dual Enrollment to help students reduce the time it takes to degree completion, and the total cost of degree attainment. Through the Innovation Award, Cuesta College has partnered with Paso Robles Joint Unified School District, Lucia Mar Unified School District, and San Luis Coastal Unified School District by providing CCAP courses, as well as additional resources such as Enrichment Dual Enrollment classes on site, or computer labs to be able to provide a Cuesta-like classroom experience at their high school site.

What our PRJUSD partners have to say:

According to Jennifer Clayton, K-12 Counseling, College, and Career Coordinator with Paso Robles Joint Unified School District:

“I am so proud of this partnership as it has increased opportunities for students. Students who didn’t believe earning college credit became possible while in the supportive environment of high school. Students are graduating with a year or more of credits completed allowing them opportunity to save money  and explore programs and electives earlier on in their college career.  My hope is that this partnership continues and serves more students every year.”
