Dear Cuesta Colleagues,

Governor Newsom announced that California will reopen on June 15, 2021 and that most restrictions will be lifted. This is such welcome news after a long and challenging 16 months of pandemic protocols and it is encouraging that the rate of vaccine in California and San Luis Obispo County continues to increase.

Effective June 15, 2021, Cuesta College mask protocol will change as follows:

  • Masks are not required outdoors
  • Masks are required indoors
  • Individuals working alone in an office do not need to wear a mask, but are required to have a mask readily available

Effective today, June 10, 2021:

  • Fully vaccinated, asymptomatic individuals are excluded from sentinel vaccine testing

Vaccination is encouraged. This is a step that each of us can take to protect our own health and increase peace of mind. If you are considering vaccine, but still uncertain, the CDC provides key information including a list of what is still being learned about vaccine. I’d be happy to speak with you about my own vaccine experience, you are welcome to text me at 559.977.2050 or call the office at 805.546.3118.

Social distancing, mask wearing, and hand washing are effective at preventing spread of disease. These remain important practices as we widen our circles of interaction.

At this time, CalOSHA is carefully considering workplace regulations. Among the considerations is the creation of two differing sets of workplace requirements; one for those who are vaccinated, and another for those who are not vaccinated. The final determination of CalOSHA will directly impact the protocols at Cuesta College. Updates will be provided as the guidance and regulation evolves.

The priority of the  COVID-19 Planning Team continues to be the safety and well-being of our campus community. Now we wait for information and updates for institutions of higher education (IHEs) and will maintain our practice of aligning Cuesta College protocols with CDC, CDPH, and SLOCDPH guidance.

Thank you for your individual and collective efforts to keep Cuesta healthy!
